Offa Poly Rector Bags Nkrumah Award

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Dr. Mufutau Olatinwo, has bagged the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Award. The students union of the polytechnic nominated the Rector for the award because of his outstanding achievements in the academic and infrastructure development of the Polytechnic.

While acknowledging the positive contributions of the Rector to the educational development of the nation, the Country Representative of the All Africa Students Union (AASU), Comrade Yemi Dallas, disclosed that the nomination of the Rector was given a special consideration because it came from the student body of the institution which is a very rare occurrence in the student-management relationship in  Nigeria’s Educational institutions.

The Country Representative commended the Rector for sustaining academic excellence, restoring and maintaining peace as well as putting in place infrastructure for the benefit of staff and students.

Dallas stated that the students union disclosed in their nomination that the Rector had constructed classrooms, offices and conveniences, at both the temporary and permanent sites. “They also told us that they are happy with you because facilities in the existing classrooms are being upgraded, roads within the temporary campus are being reconstructed and students hostels undergoing reconstruction, while a lot of work is going on at the permanent site,” Dallas said.

In his remarks, Dr. Olatinwo reiterated the resolve of the Management to ensure that its vision on academic discipline and excellence are bought into by all stakeholders of the institution, especially the students. He urged the students to help spread the gospel of internalizing the need for greater commitment to a renewed, progressive and academically vibrant Federal Polytechnic Offa.

He expressed great delight that the Polytechnic is now leading in the culture of research and expressed believe that the dreams of the founding fathers will be actualized.

The Rector thanked the African students for finding him and the institution worthy of the award and promised that the Polytechnic will not disappoint them.
