The annual Campus Trade Fair Organised by Fields and Garvey Consulting Company will commence this year from the University of Lagos [UNILAG], Akoka.
The trade fair train is expected to start between 8 and 14 February on the campus, then move to other institutions like the Lagos State University, Olabisi Onabanjo University, University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Ilorin, University of Benin, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and University of Calabar.
Others include the University of Abuja, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, and University of Ado-Ekiti.
The fair will be held at each of the campuses for five days.
According to the Chief Responsibility Officer of Field and Garvey, Mr. Bode Mebude, the recent success of the fair has opened a new vista of hope that the most reliable market in Nigeria today is the tertiary institutions, as students who were always broke, have climbed a higher socio-economic ladder, competing with the working class.
“So, household items, electronics, computer/phone, fashion accessories, foods and beverages, books, etc. are salable on campuses because there is a high population of potential buyers, he said.”
Campus Square gathered that this year, organisers of the fair have included the Most Photogenic Girl In Campus [MPGIC] pageant in its activities.
Open to all Nigerian students, both at home and abroad, the pageant is targeted at giving opportunity to students who intend to make a career in modelling.
Apart from the mouthwatering prizes, Campus Square learnt that winners of the pageant will serve as ambassadors for this year’s Campus Trade Fair – Sales/Marketing road show to over 15 Universities in the country.
The final selection of participants for the contest has been scheduled to hold on St.Valentine’s Day [14 February] at the University of Lagos Auditorium, Akoka.
Top music artistes are also expected to add spice and glamour to the event which will parade at least 10,000 beautiful female undergraduates.
