Cleric Advises Students On Cultism

A Muslim cleric, Imam Mamood Moshood, has advised Nigerian students to shun cultism and other social vices.

The Imam, who preached about the fear of God, had said it is the only thing Nigeria needs to solve all its niggling problems.

He said that until Nigerians, particularly the leaders, have the fear of God, the country is not likely to overcome its numerous problems.

“The fear of God is like an umbrella to every good thing, and that is why governor Fashola is doing so well. He has the fear of God in virtually everything he does,” the cleric noted.

Speaking with Campus Square, the Imam of Yusuf Central Mosque, Aro Loya, Lagos Island, reiterated that the only thing that can also curb cultism and other social vices in Nigerian tertiary institutions is the fear of God.

He, therefore, called on the government, parents and guardians to teach their wards the ways of God from childhood, “so that when they grow up, they will not depart from it.”

“I see no reason why parents should not be monitoring the activities of their  children in school. At least, parents should be checking their children  in school once in a week. With this, they will know in time if a child is into cultism.

“The government should also introduce religious courses in institutions and make them compulsory for every student.”
