FEDPOFFA's ICT-Compliance Group Launched

Students from Computer Engineering Department of the Federal Polytechnic Offa (FEDPOFFA) has comeup with an initiative to ensure that all students of the Polytechnic are computer literate and ICT-compliant.


At a seminar organised by the department in conjunction with the School of Engineering, the ICT Group was launched with the mandate of ensuring that all students of the Polytechnic, regardless of  their departments, must be highly skilful in the use of modern ICT solutions.

According to the Head of Computer Engineering Department, Engineer Abdul Azeez Ajao, the new agenda is essentially to integrate the IT professional needs and demands of individual students with the developmental needs and aspiration of the industries.

He disclosed further that the idea of constituting the ICT groups will also prepare the students for international certifications in order to enhance their professional credibility as well as provide Professional IT Services to the Polytechnic community.

In his own remarks, the President of the Nigeria Association of Computer Engineering Students, FEDPOFFA chapter, Mr. A. S. Adewunmi, disclosed that the great need for ICT compliance in the global market is one of the reasons for founding the ICT group.

He further explained that the basis of ICT group is for students to come together and share ideas about computer technology during the school session and on holidays. He stated that some of the lecturers in the department are also members of this group, in order to instruct and render assistance to the students.

The organising committee chairman, Mr. Durotimi Iretioluwa, also revealed that the mission of the group is “to develop skills for effective communication, responsive teamwork, and sound professional ethics so that our diplomats can gallantly face challenges of the work environment.

He stated that the department has a vision of making the Polytechnic a well acknowledged leader in computer engineering/ICT professionalism among tertiary institutions in  Nigeria.

Also present at the seminar and launching of the group were the Director School of  Engineering, Engr. J. M. Abdul, Director School of Communication, Mr.J.B Ige, Director of Works, Engr. Ilya Hassan, Head Of Department, Computer Science Department, Mr. L.S Ajibade, and Engr. O.T. Adewunmi of Computer Engineering Department.
