The chairman of Ijanikin Youth Movement, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, Chief Akeem Modupe Abogun has advised the Lagos State governor, Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), to come to an agreement with the striking Lagos State University Senior Staff Union (LASU) over non-implementation of the Federal Government ASUU salary agreement.
Abogun stated that, "the negotiation is necessary because the responsibility of the state is to ensure that the interest of our state, our students and well-being of our people is put into consideration".
“I am using this opportunity to appeal to the state government to dialogue with the striking lectures as the strike is affecting the students' academic pursuits.
He rated Fashola 85% performance and urged him not to relent in ensuring more development in the state.
Abogun also pleaded for the upgrade of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education Ijanikin into a university.
He implored the youth to shun acts of thuggery and hooliganism, pointing out that youths, being future leaders, should from their prime move closer to God. This, he added, will insulate them from immorality that is presently the bane of many youths.
