The National President of Union of Unity Schools Association of Nigeria, UUSAN, John Osodi, has called on the government to resuscitate the dying educational sector.
He made this plea at a dinner party held at the Old Students Association of Federal Government Schools.
''The cost of education has gone up due to corruption that has eaten deep into every aspect of the nation's economy. The government should stem the corruption in the educational sector and ensure a high standard like it was in the past," he added.
He described as a bad omen for the future the recent ranking of the country's educational standard as the 43rd in Africa.
Another participant, Olukayode Adelaja, advised the government to resuscitate the educational sector because it plays a dominant role in all aspect of a nation's economy.
UUSAN also lamented the decaying infrastructure in federal government schools and called for urgent intervention of the government.
