LASPOTECH SUG Unveils Activities For 2nd Semester

Weeks after students resumed for second semester, the 2009/2010 Students Union Government of Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) has unveiled various activities for the students in the two campuses – Ikorodu and Isolo, both in Lagos State, Nigeria.

The Students' Union President, Comrade Ajibike Babajide Taofeek, unveiled the activities at a press conference held at the Engineering Lecture Theatre, LASPOTECH, Ikorodu Campus.

According to Comrade Ajibike, the press conference was meant to sensitise the students, create awareness about the programmes and the projects embarked upon by the union.

The programmes for the semester include the much awaited Lasposug Marathon which was held on Wednesday, 9 June, 2010. A seminar tagged Lady of Substance will hold on 23 June.

The seminar, an initiative of the vice president of the union, is meant to spur the female folk to play active  roles in politics and occupy leadership positions on campus and the society at large.

Comrade Ajibike said  though the Students' Union Week has not been fixed, the students should be  prepared physically and psychologically for the event.

“We must note that the Students’ Union Week will encompass events like Rag Day, Seminar/Workshop, Rector’s Cup, Recognition and Awards ceremony.

“The SUG 2009/2010 strove to acquire a parcel of land on campus in order to build and commission Lasposug Venture, which will be a  source of revenue for the union and a means for students to buy what they need at affordable prices," he said

He charged the students to sit tight and not allow social activities during the semester affect their performance in school.
