The Non-Academic Staff of Universities (NASU), Lagos State University chapter, has reiterated that there is no going back on the strike it embarked upon two months ago.
The association, through its chairman, Jubril Yakubu, stressed that since the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Lateef Hussein, has refused to pay attention to the plight of his staff, the strike must go on.
Campus Square gathered that the aggrieved NASU members have been agitating for improved working condition in the institution for the past four years.
Jubril stated that the VC has been taking NASU for granted for some years, by depriving the NASU members their entitlements.
“What we are experiencing here can be described as slave-labour caused by the inhuman policy implemented in the institution. We are virtually living like slaves and the VC has been victimising us with sack letters.
“He introduced panel A-Z that was victimizing our people. I can tell you that the most intelligent lecturers have left LASU, either by being sacked or they left to avoid slavery,” he said.
However, students of the institution that spoke with Campus Square said the NASU members are fighting for their rights and urged Professor Hussein to swallow his pride.
